Feathers...Don't want to beat a dead horse...but,
I have seen a pin/brooch that I rather like. It is an animal horn carved into what looks like a feather. See it here.
I don't want to really open this can of worms again, as it has been beaten to death here many times, so a short yes or no answer will do...
Is it in poor taste to wear such a feather as a kilt pin if one is not a clan chief?

If you wear it on your kilt you will be fine - it is a good looking pin. If you wear it on your hat, you'll just look daft. And it is only eagle's feathers that come into question anyway. Wear it and make us all jealous!

Thanks, Chas. I value your opinion. And, so we're clear, I don't wear a hat while kilted, so no worries there.

A lovely pin. You will have no concerns in wearing it. Out of interest I have two "feather" pins I wear:
Lapis in silver

and tourquoise in silver

ThistleDown, Thanks for the reassurance. I have seen your peacock feather pin in other posts, and really like it. I've never seen another like it. Is it a commisioned piece?

It may have been commissioned, AZ, but not by me. It was a gift and I suspect was originally from your part of America.

I don't have a problem with people wearing a feather as a kilt pin.
