    Douglas of a different stripe

I'm finally having my 1st kilt made, in Douglas Modern. I was asked to supply a pic of how I wanted the pleating done (apparently my description was just ambiguous enough to need a visual), and not being able to find anyone else's Douglas kilt pleated to the same stripe, I pinned up the swatch I happened to have on hand, hoping it might be enough.

Simplest description would be "Modern Douglas pleated to the Black Stripe" or "...to the Black Stripe flanked by the thin light Blue Stripes" but since there is only the one black stripe flanked by the light blues in this rather simple tartan design it should be easy enough for a kiltmaker to figure that one out.

I have 4 kilts in Douglas variations but all pleated to sett (Modern, Ancient, Ancient Red, and most recently Brown). There are so many beautiful variations to this one simple sett that one could build a whole collection based solely on this family alone (Black, Grey, Weathered, and a Blue variant from Bannockburn's book as well). Good choice.

Thanks for the feedback! My paternal grandmother was a Douglas, hence the choice.

The easier thing to do is send the kiltmaker that picture (or a link to it) so they can SEE how you'd like it done.
