Hello from St. Louis, MO
Hey folks,
Wife has been wanting me to kilt up for some time now and a few months back, picked up my first in a local shop. Then my son wanted one, then I picked up another, then another, then the wife got one, and my son another. I wish I hadn't waited for so long, though I see a dangerous trend starting!
About me, I'm 44, Irish/Norwegian by blood, Scottish by name (long story involving ancestors), former USMC, with a wide range of interests including hunting, fishing, beer/wine making, building custom fishing rods, and cooking, plus various other small things that strike my fancy depending on the year and season (looking forward to trying my hand at making a sporran or two now).
I stumbled across this forum after picking up my first and I've been lurking in here ever since, picking up some terrific advice and tips, learning more than I thought there was to know about kilts and such (many, many thanks, btw). Somewhere along the way I also noticed that there seems to be an awful lot of very fine and really interesting people in here so I just couldn't stay away. Looking forward to chewing the fat with y'all now and then. Will post a pic or two as soon as I figure the system out.
Cheers,
Mickey

Oh...I understand there are no "former" marines "Once a marine, always a marine!" That's for all my USMC friends and family. I don't want to mislead...I'm in the navy

Welcome from about 2 1/2 hours up river from ya. You know that there is a 12 step program to help with your kilt addiction... or is that to help enable it Anyhoo, welcome to the rabble.

I'm afraid there's little hope for you now: you've discovered the kilt, have a family that supports you in it, and are now associating with known addicts. You might as well just give your pants to the local shelter, you're in all the way by the sounds of it. Good to have you here!
