Thank you
I have to thank you all and a couple of kilts sites I have visited. I am a Newbie and haven't worn a kilt since I was 6 years old. I was forced into short pants when I went to School in Ierby, Cumberland.... not far from Carlisle and on the border of Scotland and England.
I joined your community a few days ago and I had already ordered a kilt (Scott) from "Heritage of Scotland". I had also ordered a few other things from them at the same time to the tune of $1200.00 Canadian. I re-read the order and it was all mixed up and wrong. I read some of the comments about this company and started to Panic. I know know they do not sew the kilts in Scotland and they import some cheaper products. They have a fantastic marketing system.
All of there kilts are sewn in Pakistan from a mill in Scotland. The weight of the material is lighter than what they say and they are made with a Poly/Ester with some wool woven into it. Apparently they are comfortable to wear but are not very able to stand up to last very long and could ignite if you cook a crabs on a beach over an open fire. I told them that I would re-submit my order of they could supply me with a 16 oz virgin wool kilt that was made in Scotland. They did tell me that they could not do that! I hate what some countries do to the professional kilt makes in Scotland.
I know they may make some products that look good but they are not made by the craftsmen of Scotland. This trend needs to be stopped.
I must say that they did send me an email saying that they were sorry they were not the company that I had expected and they did cancelle my order. Be Warned that VISA will not cancel your order but will help you if the site you ordered from had "False advertising"
To anyone that wants a kilt... if the deals sound to be to good to be true...then it probably isn't.
I have to give this forum and members a big Thank you. I would also ask if anyone tlldknows a good legitimate company that I could order a kilt from I wou[d be much in there debt.
I/We are going to attend the Highland games May 21 to May 23in Victoria BC. We have attend these games for a few years now and anyone we have ever met are such good people This time I rented a Kilt from the House of MacCleran in Vancouver.
I am so looking forward to this. I will see my sister and go to the games in a KILT.
Now could I ask a question?
Where in Scotland could I get a 100% Virgine kilt crafted in Scotland?
What would me Wee Lass wear when she accompanies me to fit in? Should she could wear? A cape? a shawl.... or what. She is Finish but a Lass of the North country1
Thanks for any info.
It is going to cost me 4190.00 cAN #
