    good country shoes?

Does anyone know of a source for good solid country shoes- preferably plain ones, with no brogueing- for less than 200 GBP? Or is that just what shoes have to cost these days?

thanks, not quite what I was thinking of...

I had in mind something a little sturdier- on the order of these...

only without the steep price. My friends at Sierra Trading have some likely looking ones from Eduardo G, but they seem to be in bigger sizes only. I ordered the 8, which is as small as they go and they are looking to be too big- or for thick socks only.

Or, your might try Wm. Powell, or Loakes, or RedWing Shoes, or even Timberland Shoes (if you don't mind their logo branded on the heel of the shoe).

Here's the same shoe but with a slightly better price: LINK.

Or check out these alternatives, which receive generally positive reviews and are reported to be very good value: LINK.

If you checkout www.pediwear.co.uk you maybe suprised at the price of Loakes. I just checked out a pair of Loake royals and I can get them, delivered to Australia for A$210.00 or GBP138.00. They have a huge assortment of Loakes. The cost in Australia for the same shoes at a retail store is pressing 400.00

Jos. A. Bank has several similar styles, and often run sales. Last time I was in one of their stores I believe they were running 20% off men's shoes. So you can keep your eye out for a deal.

Could you be a bit clearer/more detailed about what you mean by "country" shoes? I assume you mean something quite different from "dress" or "office suitable" shoes, but I'm still not sure just what you're asking about.
