Show us your kilt hose!
Ok, so we have all enjoyed the "show us your sporran" thread, and the "show us your kilt pin" thread. But I can't be the only one that has a love affair with kilt hose!
First of all, being married to a knitter, I can really appreciate knit goods, especially hand knits. But second, no other accessory can be as versatile in setting the tone for your outfit as the right pair of kilt hose. The combinations of colors and patterns are nearly endless. And you can get a great pair for less than $20 or more than $200 depending on what you are looking for.
So come on, show us your favorite kilt hose!
I'll start the ball rolling. I tend to divide mine into three major categories. Self-colored; patterned-top; and full diced or argyle.

Self-colored
In the self colored category, my absolute favorite has to be this pair knit for me by my wife.
The fiber is a wool & silk blend (can't remember the percentage) and the shade of green is one of my favorites that tones well with most all of my kilts.
These are a hand wash only item, because I don't want to risk the beautiful cable pattern felting too much.
Notice how the pattern on the cuff perfectly matches the pattern of the hose.
Here's a photo showing them worn in a full outfit.
Apart from my hand knits, my favorite solid color hose are the Lewis hose by House of Cheviot. I own several colors. Here are the "dark natural."
And claret, which is a color that is really growing on me.

Patterned Top hose pt 1
My favorite hose, generally speaking, are patterned top hose. I think they add a bit of character to my day to day kilt wardrobe. Some days I just feel like a solid color hose is all I really need, but more often than not I reach for one of my many patterned top hose. First I'll post some with hand knit tops.

Patterned Top hose pt 2
These are all made by House of Cheviot and feature machine knit patterned tops. Not quite as customizable as the hand knit, of course, but available at a lower price.
Here are the first pair of patterned-top hose I ever owned!
Oh, the variety!

Full diced or argyle
The epitome of formal attire, which I also like to show off for daywear at times.
Full argyle hose to match my MacQuarrie tartan kilt.
Green & Black diced hose.
Grey & Black hose (note the castellated tops).
I've gotten perhaps the most use out of the above pair, finding the neutral colors tone well with just about any kilt. Here I am at a Burns Supper last year, with my St. Ninian tartan kilt.
Castellated argyle hose to match my Carolina tartan kilt.
Diced hose to match another MacQuarrie kilt.

I like that Saltire sock, David! I look forward to your finishing the pair. Reminds me of this pair of hose I saw a couple of years back at the Greenville Games.

Great selection/collection Matt, but I am a bit confused. How did you come by the second house to keep all your kilt gear in?

Matt, I've not worn castellated hose (yet) and have a wee question. I know that hand tied garters are to be worn with castellated hose. My queestion is when wearing these is it right and proper to wear only matching coloured garters, or are garters in a contrasting colour also permitted? I notice in the second photo a lighter gray coloured garter. How much, if indeed any, lattitude in colour choice is permitted? Would, for example a pair of red garters be completely out of the question with the above exampled hose? I could imagine some creative combinations, but am not certain as to how they would look "in real life".
