    18th century luggage

I had such a good responce on the pictures of the 18th century liquor chest I thought that some of the group here would like to see the rest of the 18th century traveling luggage I've made.

These are all typical of the type that would be found in 18th century Scotland

    leather covered dome chest

there is a storage compartment inside the dome for small items

leather Portmanteu, was made to fit behind saddle

    leather valise

there is a dust cover under the lid

it holds quite a bit if gear

I'm an 18th century guy born into the 20th century and have been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

I'd be concerned they'd go missing by the time I disembarked at my destination. They're that nicely made.

I thought that craftsmanship like this had long since gone - it is so nice to see that it isn't. Is that all hand stiching? And roughly how many hours work in each one?

    Regards

Great stuff! Leather is a wonderful medium. I have a couple leather Gladstone bags. Treasures.
