Well deserved, Dougie! He wears the kilt exceptionally well, I say.

Yes, I saw his name on the Birthday Honours List last month, and was looking forward to seeing a photo. Well done!

Well done! I've been a fan of his music since I was in college, and have seen him in concert several times. I've never seen him in a kilt, though. He wears it very well.

    I agree.

Although might anyone disparage his flashes and tie MATCHING his kilt? His belt under his waistcoat? His black hose? Those are all things I've traditionally been advised against on this forum but he certainly pulls it off

I don't make a habit of publicly criticizing minute details of other's wardrobe unless specifically asked to comment. But overall I think he looks fine, if not a bit understated. I don't know how often he wears the kilt, as I said I've attended several of his concerts and followed his career for about 17 years now and this is the first time I've seen him in a kilt. So I can only assume he does not wear it often.

That being said, I think a lot of his choices are "safe." The colors of his tartan are green, black, and white and he stayed within that color palette throughout his outfit. That's a good, safe choice which guarantees your outfit won't look bad, but does run the risk of not looking interesting. :-)

Yes, I would have avoided wearing the belt under the waistcoat. But that's the only major thing I noted. Anything else I would have done differently would just be a matter of personal taste and style.

Thank you Matt. From the videos I've seen of the gentleman performing (alas, I have yet to see him in person), the belt worn under the waistcoat seems to fit his personal style. I'd call it relaxed; neither too casual, nor too formal, but comfortable.
