A few weeks ago, Matt and I completed an exchange initiated by a "Matt's Closet Sale" post in the for sale forums. This particular garment is one that Matt made for himself some time ago. If I recall correctly, it is one of the first tweed kilts he made (Matt, feel free to chime in and correct these details). Lucky for me, this kilt was made to my exact measurements.
I have heard of the advantages of lower yardage kilts, but you really can't image the comparison until you wear one. I have worn it a few times since it has been in my possession and it has quickly become my favourite to wear in the summer. I wore it all day yesterday and then wore my 'tank' today as a comparison. I'm already planning (in my head) a commission of another box pleat from Matt. My SO says it needs to be in 'summer colours' (whatever that means).
Sorry, but there are no accompanying images (just yet). I'm waiting for some pieces to modify my Thorfinn Custom Sporran and an excuse to dress in an outfit to do this kilt justice. I just wanted to take some time to compliment the excellent quality of the garment, both the build and materials. I can't wait to put in an order to Matt for another box pleat kilt, but I imagine this second hand tweed kilt will keep me satisfied for quite some time.
P.S. - if anyone knows what 'summer colours' are, feel free to enlighten me...
