Well, my birthday isn't until Monday, but my wife asked what I wanted to do this weekend for it. We had not been hiking in a while, so I suggested we go where we went on our second date 8 years ago: Frances Slocum State Forest, bordering the Mississinewa Reservoir here in Indiana. It is mostly used for horseback riding, so most of the trails are pretty steep with muddy spots (I kept telling myself it was only mud, but my nose told me different). It is rough terrain. Other than ourselves, we only encountered one rowdy group of horseback riders. We kept our distance as we could hear them two hills over.
Most of the pics did not come out very well as neither one of user are shutterbugs and the forest was a mix of bright sunlight and dark shadow. Linda did get a decent pic of me in the MacDonald modern kilt that I recently hemmed to wear lower on my hips. Wearing a kilt while hiking makes for an enjoyable experience.
I am standing on a small boulder in the middle of the spring-fed stream running through the forest.
