    Frugal Corner New World Irish

After previously starting a thread inquiring about Frugal Corner's quality I bought one. I chose the New World Irish for the tartan, and my Irish roots. I definitely have no complaints on the quality. I actually prefer the feel of this fabric to my SWK standards. It feels a little stiffer, and kind of coarse. This is a great knock around kilt for the money, and could be easily dressed up. I have some lovat green hose on the way from Rocky. I didn't want to go too "matchy" in tones of green.

Looking good sir! I designed that tartan and it makes me very happy to see fellow Xmarkers wearing it. Kilt on

When I first saw this tartan I knew I had to get one. I like the larger amount of white in it as opposed to other tartans. I think it really stands out.

You may also notice that the green under the white stripes is lighter than the green in the field. I think this also helps to visually "pop" the tartan

Yeah, I did. I really like the different greens in the tartan. I'm now curious about their wool kilts.

It's a great looking kilt and I like the contrast of the greens and white.

Having met Mark (and family) and owning two light weights from the Frugal Corner, I have no hesitation about ordering one of his wool kilts as soon as I save the $$$ required. I'm sure the quality will be first rate. The fact that he lists the availability of the tartan I'm interested in is a big plus. I just found out that there are two versions of the Irish County Meath tartan, and I want to make sure it's the same one as the scarf I bought for my girlfriend last Christmas.

BTW... it's good to see another kiltie in the neighborhood. I work at/around the Memphis Aerotropolis (at least until they finish the new parking structure).

He unfortunately doesn't list the county we're from (Leitrim). I guess I could pick a neighboring county, or order a 5yd from USA kilts for about the same price. Tough decision.

Re: Frugal Corner New World Irish

I looked at the webpages for a couple of those new wool kilts at Frugal Corner and was disappointed to see that they are only 11 oz... I consider that to be too light and flimsy for a man's kilt. I have one kilt (from another maker) in 13 oz and that is about as light as I would ever go.
