Canuk kilt cops... ????
Well almost, but not quite... The first tartan I owned was a bow tie and a straight tie when I was 6 in 1975/6 which was brought over by my aunt who was luving in Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia... Needless to say it was Nova Scotia tartan...
Since there's some for sale on the sales forum (which unfortunately I cant afford at the moment... Sigh! ) I figured I'd look it up... apart from the history of it, I did run across this...

I think this definitely counts as tartan cops... Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I didn't know there were so many rules and concerns about this.
I did make a painting of a Scottish terrier dog (standing) with a kilt with the Nova Scotian tartan but looking back at the photo of it, I see I was off quite a bit so I'm safe...

Well it is a copyrighted design owned by the Provincial Government of Nova Scotia. And as such... as those to the south say, "... by the people, for the people..." it is the responsibility of those representing those interests to protect the things, objects, cultural icons etc held in trust.

Re: Canuk kilt cops... ????
Readers; If you think that is Bad(or Odd) try the Problem in Maine. We have one tartan, made by a single mfg. that is copyrighted-i.e. no one can use it. Then we have another, made by the Me.St.Andrews, which anyone can use. The State will not budge in 'santioning' either design as "Official". So if you were to buy one sett in a kilt, you could suddenly find yourself with the 'wrong offical tartan'-Ouch, my wallet suddenly hurts' Department. As an aside, I have done a bit of work in trying to 'get the ball rolling again' for the Maine Lawmakers(the last effort was circa 1995)to pick one.
