You can wear any colour with a kilt of Black Watch tartan, although I would never recommend white or black. How about red or claret? Pink, green, blue? Purple or yellow?

Let me ask you: what colour of hose do you want to wear with your Black Watch tartan kilt?

Black Watch? It's one of the most universal colored kilts in the world!! The sky's (or maybe I should say "Skye's") the limit when it comes to hose colors to wear with BW. My favorite hose color is lovat or ancient blue...with navy blue or red garters/flashes. If you want to go for the military look, you can wear lovat green with red flashes. I sometimes wear tan/oatmeal hose...or mustard. I'd wear red, orange, or claret hose if I owned them. I truthfully cannot think of a hose color that would look BAD with Black Watch...though I would probably shy away from bottle green, navy blue, or black...just to avoid the matchy matchy thing (but I did wear bottle green with red garters at Christmas time).

I like it when my husband wears his claret hose with black flashes when wearing his Black Watch.
He was wearing green flashes here -
He's also worn purple Lewis hose again with black hand knitted flashes, which looked very nice.

How about them red and white hose like the olde Scot soldiers wore with their Black Watch kilts?

I'd agree with this... and then add the Q "what ya got...?"
Personally I'm not fond of bright colours... With Black Watch I wouldn't want to go with something too dark though...
Off white (despite everyones opinions on it) may be unadventurous, but do tend to go with everything, and if you get bored and they have a high natural fiber content you can always dye them later on...
I guess if I was buying I'd look at your other kilts too... Lovat green goes well with maclean hunting, and I suspect equally well with BW

Since they cost an arm and a leg, I guess you'd get 2 pairs for the price of one...

It would depend on the shirt/ tie/ vest/ jacket I was going to wear with it.
With a "blue" shirt and a brigt red or yellow tie I would go with Lovat blue or lovat green.
I agree Bottle green is tricky with Black Watch. However, with a white shirt and a bright tie with lots of green in it, bottle green hose and probably red flashes would work for me.
With dark solid tops...

If you take a look at this thread Jamie was wearing a Black Watch kilt for it and wore a few different colours for hose, it might give you some ideas:

I would say Yellow, Lovat Blue or Lovat Green, or Claret would work well.
