Kilt(s) in "My Life So Far"
In the movie "My Life So Far" set in 1920s Argyll (I believe) one of the main characters, a pubescent lad named Fraser, appears to be wearing his kilt backwards in one of the early scenes. His pleats are in the front. In later scenes his kilt seems to be twisted around to various degrees.
My question is, were these mistakes in the film, or were the makers trying to tell the viewers that kids were just sloppy with their kilts, like they often are with their other articles of clothing? Or, will we never know the answer to that burning question?
By the way, IMHO it is a very good movie.

Re: Kilt(s) in "My Life So Far"
I've just watched some of it on Youtube and see what you mean.
I'm quite sure that most young boys in Scotland even then would know how to put on a kilt, no frequent kilt wearer would wear a kilt like that so I would assume that we have a typical ignorant approach to kilt wearing here by the film's costume dept.

Re: Kilt(s) in "My Life So Far"
Seen the film as well, and on adults the kilts are positioned properly so I just suppose it's suitable for a young boy that plays outside to wear it like that - it would be unrealistic to assume that a 10 year old kan keep his kilt properly placed all day while playing outside.
Most men, they'll tell you a story straight through. It won't be complicated, but it won't be interesting either. - Edward Bloom (Big Fish)

I absolutely LOVE this movie!! Right up there with Local Hero! My fave scene is at the very end when wee Fraser is sitting in his Da's chair, listening to jazz, & snifter full of milk (did he also have a cigar, IIRC?). And his father, looking in on him undetected, smiles & decides not to say anything...

Yes, Fraser had a cigar, but may have just been pulling on it.
My favorite scenes in Local Hero involve the "accidental rabbit". Quirky flick, but fun!

You do know that movie, don't you!?
I had forgotten that. But, as I recall she did not, after all, make a full recovery.
