Boom!
Loaded a banana clip, switched to full auto and pulled the trigger this morning. Fabric for (2) family tartan tanks and fly plaids (Dunlop Ancient and Lindsay Hunting Ancient), a brown day sporran with pewter pin latch, piper's ghillie brogues, new snare drum from Ebay and a pair of bottle green hose.
Already have fabric and patterns for a new Argyle and vest in tight dark grey herringbone.
I'll be in the sewing room until spring...

Long story shortened, it's a popcorn or firecracker snare, 10"x6". I will be accompanying my brother, MadPiper1130. With a single piper, sometimes on the small pipes at that, it has plenty of volume, is light and easy to carry, yet has that nice, high-pitched, tight, crisp sound -- rather like a Premier top snare, but smaller and not as loud.

Ah, I understand! Very good thinking, sir; I'm certain it should be just the thing to accompany a solo piper, especially on smallpipes. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
I've never played with a pipe band, but I'm a snare player from way back... believe it or not, they gave me the John Philip Sousa Award for my drumming, once upon a time. It's always good to see a fellow drummer around!
