Putting Posts on about anything as kiltpin
You can turn just about anything into a kilt pin by attaching posts to the back.
I highly prefer post and clasp over the "safety pin" attachments as the pin lays totally flat to the fabric, is a lot less snag prone, is easyier to position and does a lot less damage to the fabric than the other attachments.
I like it so much that I have ground the "safety pins" off of kilt pins and put in posts.
I've had real good luck drilling holes part way though the back of things and JB Welding (a metal epoxy) the posts (with the heads snipped off)in the holes. I even have a rather heavy metal 4 inch chrome plated brass cross that hasn't come apart in over a year. The tiny drill bits are hard to find in these sizes, I got a PC (printed circuit) board drill bit set on Amazon.
I clip the post tops off for two reasons - First Chrome to chrome dosent stick well. And the heads are too large for many of my pins. Epoxying is a lot cleaner with a hole - You just poke a drop of the (mixed) epoxy in the holes and push the posts in with needle nosed pliers and let it set to cure.
These posts with heads are really ment to be soldered on and the heat will damage most finishes etc.
