Bigfoot
I have a friend who is looking for some kilt hose. He has size 15 feet. I'm thinking House of Cheviot, but their actual sizing only goes to size 14.5. I suspect that'll be fine for him, but I thought I'd check to see what the Bigfoots around here suggest.

Aw, shucks. I was hoping this would be a thread about a Bigfoot full mask sporran.

Re: Bigfoot
I think the House of Cheviot size XL (which fits sizes 13.5 - 14.5 US) is about the largest size hose you will find off the shelf. Anything larger and you are talking custom made - which may be an option for him.
The other consideration is how long legged is he? The House of Cheviot XL hose are 18" in length.

Re: Bigfoot
I wear a 14 and the House of Cheviot hose in click seem to me like one size larger wouldn't be an issue.

Re: Bigfoot
14'ers here and im not talking Colorado mountains. The XL is what I need though few places sell them. I found some nice hunting socks for kilt and breeks on Ebay at thesportinglodgecountrystore. They are brown tweed with blue stripe at the top, comfy and fit well. Also have gotten some burgundy/maroon kilt hose from wbsocks on ebay also. The were actually large and long on me though not too large. The length allows me to double fold the tops down which adds nice bulk. Othewise in most the socks XL is your choice and the better the sock the better the fit will be.

Re: Bigfoot
As Matt says most of the several pairs of XL size HoC hose in several different styles (Lewis, Tain, tartan top, pattern top, thistle top, Rannock) that I own and wear are by no means snug fitting on my 13+US feet--some are a little less loose, like the Tain, while others I practically swim in (some of the pattern tops). And even at 6'5" tall I have never "come up short", so to speak, with them being long enough for adequate turnover tops. I do also have some not inexpensive shooting socks in solids with a contrasting heel/toe/top stripe but they are not as loose a fit as the HoC's so would probably be a might snug on a 15, although length is not a problem with them either. I own three pair of hand knit hose that fit fine, although they were not specifically made to my size specifications (I lucked into them in two different transactions), and if all else fails that would be the way I would go if I could not find off the shelf hose to fit. Not inexpensive, but then again they can be had, with some shopping around for knitters, for a reasonable price. Side benefit is that, if you desire, you can have up front input into the specific yarns to be used to make your custom knits so you know that they are a color you will wear, especially since you probably won't be having a couple dozen pairs in your kilt closet at the higher price. But another side benefit, since nearly all tartan hose have to be custom knit you can get those made in the bigger size for the same price the rest of us schmucks have to pay for them.
Good luck.

Thanks for your input gents. I believe I'll recommend the Lewis hose.

House of Cheviot would be my suggestion, best of luck!

Re: Bigfoot
I am a size 15D (U.S.), and I have a couple of pair of X-L HoC hose. I find they are both a tad small, but not so small as to be uncomfortable. At about half the price of my custom hose, I find they work well for daily wear both in town and out on the trail in the mornings.
