Somewhere on the site is mentioned, that the number of team is restricted to 30, though last year 31 took part.

Everyone can participate! The Mainland-Games are an open competition for teams from near and far to compete in athletic competition with each other in 12 different disciplines.
The tug of war takes place on Sunday afternoon and will be rated separately.
A team - "clan" - consists of 5 members + 1 spare man / woman, all players wear kilts of course.
This is an absolute requirement for participation, but a really basic setup is suffient.
Important is that the tartan (color and pattern) within a "clan" is identical.
We are particularly pleased about clans who bring their own clan-shirt and their clan or clan banner flag.
.... If you get cheered by supporters in a "Clan shirt", you get double motivation.
Entry fee for every team is 50,- €. (men 5+1 and women 5+1 are two teams)
The clans have the opportunity to build their clan camp at the periphery of the Celtic Market.
The more authentic it looks, the better it is to us. Construction is possible on Friday, 03.09. (that's the date from 2011. The page is obviously not updated to 2012)
The exact times will be annonced in time. For the get-up of the clan camp a deposit of 20,- € is mandatory, which will be paid back when the space is left tidy and free from rubbish.
To build the Clan camp, each team receives one entry ticket for a car, after completion of get-up the car is to be from the festival grounds, parking is available.
After the registration you will receive a confirmation including banking account details.
Upon receipt of your registration entry fee the registration is binding.
If a clan has to cancel its participation, it is possible until 30.06. The entry fee will be paid (transfered) back. As of 01.07. we cannot accept free cancellation any more.
Anyone who has never fought in those disciplines should, prior to the competition ensure that he is physically fit. A couple of training sessions should be in order.
Of course, the participation is at your own risk.
Each discipline is rated by experienced referees. Their instructions must be strictly followed.
Clan members can only be replaced in consultation with the referees until before the start of the games. After the start a replacement is no longer possible.
