    St. Patty's Day in Savannah

Anyone going to the St. Patrick's Day parade in Savannah this year. I think it'd be a great opportunity for a kind of kilt night or whatever

The Missus and I'd love to, being that it's just down the road a bit but I have a previous engagement with a fire service training event. It appears that I'll be stuck in town as a lone kiltie after we finish the training.

thats neat I don't know where exactly we would meet. But I'll be with my family at the parade and on River Street afterward. For me it would probably end up as a show up and say hi and talk for a little bit then leave since I can't legaly drink yet and the rest of my family will be with me.

As I said, we won't be able to make it because of an 8 hour live fire training event starting that morning. I'll be kilted here in Orangeburg though. No chance to make it down that way, which is doubly bad as it is also the week of my spring break. We're only a couple of hours from Savannah but I'll be beat.

I wish I could. Oh the memories. As a young Coastie stationed there I had a few memorable St Patties days! Course that was long before my kilted days when celebrating heritage meant getting pissed and holding aloft a green Budweiser during a pipes rendition of amazing grace.

WTH do we do that over here anyway? It's a hymn for goodness sake!

Sorry, is 'Patty' an American spelling? It's just I've never seen it used before for St.Patrick's day here.
We would only ever use Paddy, as Patty is a girl's name. Do American's called Patrick shorten their names to Patty as well?

Sorry, my mistake! I had just seen this spelling for St. Paddy's before by an American, and was just curious o whether it was a common thing over there.

I was there last year, had a blast. Would like to see Savannah when it's a bit less crowded some day though.
