Round or oval brass thistle buckle?

I've been searching for a round or oval brass plate-type buckle for a 2 1/4" belt -- either plain or with some sort of thistle motif. Anyone know of a source for such a buckle?

you might consider having tyger make one for you. Here's some of his work I found using a search of x-marks:

I second that Tyger does great work with custom projects.

    J. Higgins sells round ones from Gaelic Themes that use a cap badge insert. You can customize with a clan crest or thistle, rampant lion, or St. Andrew badge... pretty much any pewter cap badge. I have two, because I'm saving one for my boy when he gets big enough.

Oh, and these are quite heavy duty.

I looked thru all 9 pages of his belt and buckle section twice and didn't see them. There was a pewter rectangular one that takes a clan badge, but no round brass.

I've been to Tyger's site and drooled on my keyboard, but his work is way beyond my budget right now.

This one is my favorite - really stunning! Would make an interesting medallion (smaller of course) for a sporran.

I agree, it's gorgeous. The nice gentle patina on the bronze (I'm assuming) is so soft, and really highlights the textures and stamping.

It gives me a few ideas about something I might have to have tyger work up, even though I rarely wear a belt.

I totally understand about tight budgets, but at the same time, does it make sense to save for exactly what you want or to spend 1/3-1/2 that amount on something else, and then later end up buying what you really want anyway?

A belt is rarely essential, it might be worth while to wait a bit and buy a custom piece that you'll really treasure.

You'll be thrilled to death, Scott, when you decide to talk bid'ness with Mark. I don't know if you've seen his work in person before, but it is really something.

...I still think you need that buckle with that certain leaf on it.

And just a reminder that Tyger sells his buckles through the STM gift shop. You'll find them listed under "hand forged buckles" under "kilt accessories."

Or you could just click here (you know you want to...)
