Aussie Kilt Wearers - Making kilts fashion in Australia
I was wondering if there are other kilted Australians on this forum and where do you live? I am currently living on the Gold Coast Australia and would love to catch up with other guys that wear the kilt.
It would be great for us Aussies to band together and organise an effort to make kilts a popular modern day casual everyday garment for men here in Australia.

Hi KiltRevival, there are a number of Australian members here, in fact there is a Australian Kilties social group on the board (though not too active). I also know of several lurkers that live in Victoria that view the forum with some regularity. From memory there have been a few members from QLD but can't think of them off the top of my head.
Perhaps a few will pop their heads up and let you know what's going on up there.
Cheers

Re: Aussie Kilt Wearers - Making kilts fashion in Australia
Hi KiltRevival,
I'm in Sydney. Must confess though, I only wear my kilts to clan events or highland games and formal dress events etc.... Have you got a local clan association? might be the best place to start unless you have a number of mates wanting to get kilted.

Another Aussie here, name is Bill, location Melbourne and I wear Scottish kilts for dancing, festivals, formal dinners an average of 4 times a week eg. last night at dancing, tomorrow night a social, the next day a Highland gathering, then Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and sometimes sometimes just because I want to! I often wear one on old car runs, always to school reunions, black tie affairs and a couple of times a year to Rotary and often abroad; opportunities abound. In 50 years of wearing them regularly, I have never had had an adverse comment and they seen to be the ultimate chick magnet. In Oz, kilts are not so rare and since ethnic attire is now everywhere, why not wear a kilt casually too and enjoy their benefits all the time?
