Kilted cadet presented medal for bravery

This was on the front page of our local paper, the interesting bit is that he is a Royal Canadian Air Force cadet; CWO Simon Grant in glengarry, RCAF tartan kilt and plaid (sash?)*
He was presented the award by a Royal Canadian Navy officer, Commander Stan Bates from the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Pacific) in Victoria. So quite a juxtaposition of uniforms.

His act of bravery in 2009 was jumping onto and stopping a driver-less bus, which was rolling toward an embankment with 35 people on board (the parking brake had failed.)

*He's the senior cadet in his corps, and such are often granted considerable license in dress uniform (my personal experience attests to this ith: )

For sure! I hope he is successful getting in to RMC. A well-deserved award!

    A truly great news story.

A young person + wearing a kilt + member of a youth organisation + life saving + written up in the local newspaper.

    Win, Win and Win!

    Regards

Yeah, but we didn't get to wear anything that cool when I was an air cadet. Just the same CF green monkeysuits as everyone else.

I was soooo jealous when the Air Cadets went to the blues! Pipe bands are becoming more common in the Air Cadet movement too.
