Good & Bad of Wearin' a kilt
Saturday had an extended family festival to celebrate the day, and the families heritage in Ireland, Scotland, & Wales.
So I strapped on the kilt for the first time in several years, and I must admit it felt wonderful, but. . .had to have my wife's help to strap it on for to my surprise, it barely fit. The only way to hold the kilt up was suspenders for my belt was to small as was the small belt for my sporran, but the vest covered the suspenders so that was okay. I'd way out grown my Prince Charlie, but a tux coat I'd got at a sale a few years ago fit, just didn't have the tailoring or look of the PC. Also surprised that my kilt was now at the bottom of my knee caps, so I've lost some height, bummer!!!
However, my legs didn't swell as bad as I thought from the garters and hose, which was great. Now, just have to drop about 50 lbs. This might be a problem!
All in all, it was nice to strap on the kilt!
Below is photo of myself and wife.

Looks great. Dropping the weight is a great idea. Are you sure you lost height? Maybe just can't get the kilt up as high because of the belly. Lose weight, reassess. Good luck. We're pulling for you!

Glad it worked out all right.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

You look fantastically smart, the pair of you!
50lb, that's only a pound a week till this time next year. You can do that, I'm sure.
Regards
Chas

It's good to have goals in life. BTW, your wings and medals are RAF? Just curious, as I have USAF blood. Cheers.

Garry,
You look better on this one occasion than I do on most! Smashing! And I think the jacket looks just fine!

Thanks all!
dea3369: Bad angle in the photo but the wings & medals are USAF, Vietnam period.
Chas: Excellent point, but have three meds I take that make me gain weight. In four years I've gained 40 pounds. I'm really goin' to try to lose weight.
