I've been tempted by the Stewart Old tartan for quite a while nowww, but haven't had the time to make one for myself, so I haven't pulled the trigger on the cloth. When Kelly and I took the day off today, we went down to Fabric Row in Philadelphia and look what I found...
Got the rest of their bolt for a screaming deal... $70 for 5.5 M of it (double width). It is definitely 13 oz Scottish woven wool cloth, though the hand is a little bit softer than what I'm used to... I guessed that the age of the cloth had something to do with that. I've seen older pieces of cloth people had brought in before and they had the same feel.
When I unwrappd the fabric upon arrival home, I found the original purchase date from the supplier... June 1998.
Thinking a fun 'different' personal project for this one. Maybe a reverse kingussie and a bias cut vest.
Great hunting trip!
