Black Shadow debut on Queen Victoria

At present I am on the Cunard Queen Victoria cruising the med, today we are in Gibralta with excellent weather.
Last night was the first of 4 formal evenings on board so it was a debut for my newly purchased Black Shadow kilt, I was quite pleased with the reaction from fellow Scots on board and a multitude of English passengers although when congratulated on how smart I looked by one female passenger, her husband said that it was a skirt that I was wearing. I ignored his remark.
Are other men jealous of how we look formally dressed in a kilt as on my last cruise I had a similar remark from an obvious jealous husband?
I will post pics when I return home

Jealous that you got a compliment from the man's wife.
Jealous that they forgot their kilt.
Jealous that they don't have the 'cojones' to wear a kilt.
Jealous that you look better in your kilt than they in their tux/suit.
Jealous that they didn't get the same attention when they entered the room.

    Take your pick.

As has been written in other threads, just ignore them. The only way they can feel good is by making everybody else feel bad.

Thanks Dennis, I think your 5 points summed up his attitude.
Isn't it always amazing the compliments we get from the female sex and the envious remarks from their partners. Mind you like many x-markers over the years I am sure that I have contributed to many people buying and wearing a kilt

I don't know about the man in question, but I am certainly jealous.

From a cold, wet and windy Norfolk.

    Regards

    Chas

What's in a name? that which we call a kilt
    By any other name would swish as sweet;
So woman would, were she not woman call'd,
Be drawn to that perfection which we wear

Attended a black tie event and decided to go highland formal (the only one in a sea of tuxes). Of no surprise to the rabble, had a women come up to me and gush "I love a man in a kilt".

Never had a women come up to me and say "I love a man in a suit".

He lets the English down. Doesn't surprise me Jimmy and I apologise for the man's obvious ignorance and insensitivity. I know some Englishmen who become positively agitated in the presence of a Kilt. Like it's a real threat to them and they seem to feel it's their patriotic duty to belittle it. It's almost like they are trying to reassure themselves that they would never wear such a garment. I also think it's down to 'cojones' (or lack of) and their own personal insecurities as well. They are unfortunate victims of their own closed mind.

Hard to be the bigger man and ignore it sometimes without throwing a jibe back and possibly escalating the situation. 'Tis for me anyway. You did the right thing.

Glad you're having a great time otherwise. If you've got another three formal nights, wear your kilt to all of them. Looking forward to your pictures.

By the way, I've got a nice sea view out of my window at the moment too. Trouble is there's no Kilts and no Bar either, where I am.
