Castle Balir and Murry of Atholl
No. i haven't visited it (sadly). But could be a good trip, specially end of May.
In our newspaper DELO, which is printed in big format (let us say A2 format for a page), this morning the whole page was devoted to Castle Blair and the (only) legal privet army of Duke Murry of Atholl. Half of the page is covered with smashing pipe band marching in front of the castle. A short history and some details about parade end of May... Band members are dressed in Murry of Atholl tartan, with dark blue jackets with red or white collars and cuffs, white belts, red/white diced hose....
It used to be very important castle on the way toward Inverness and is one of the most beautiful castles in GB that can be seen by the tourists.
In my opinion definitely worth of visiting (already on my "to see" list).

Am I the only one slightly weirded out that a Scottish duke lives in South Africa? ;)

Why, AJB? He inherited the title but lives in South Africa.

I have been to the castle. What I remember most was the Narwhale "Tusk" and the hall of stag antlers....hundreds.

Yes, that's what it was written in the newspaper, too.

Hamish Chisholm of Chisholm, chief of Clan Chisholm, lives 10 miles down the road from me. Just over the border in Suffolk.
Captain Aiwyn Farquharson of Invercauld, chief of Clan Farquharson is 19 miles away in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.
Major Sir Fergus Matheson of Matheson Bt., chief of Clan Matheson is 40 miles away in Bungay, Norfolk.
BUT...
The Reverend Father Peter Lamont of that Ilk, chief of Clan Lamont is on the other side of the world in St.Andrew the Apostle Catholic Presbytery, 40 Breakfast Road, Marayong, New South Wales, 2148 Australia
South Africa - it's in the same time zone.

Then, there is Chief Robin Neill Lochnell Malcolm of Poltalloch who lives in the Clan’s castle, Duntrune. Duntrune was purchased from the Campbell’s in 1792. It is claimed that Duntrune is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland.

End of hijack!
