Kilted Memorial Day in Washington DC

Michele and I decided to go to the Vietnam War Memorial (aka the Wall) in the National Mall in DC today. As we walked from the Metro
station we had to cross the Memorial Day Parade route. As luck would have it, I heard pipes. The Chesapeake Caladonian
    Pipes and Drums were passing.

We had to wait a bit to get to the Wall, as there was a big todo with President Obama and others, as they are building an education
center as part of the Memorial.

Any way, me at the Wall

And with a few brother Marines at the wreath placed earlier during the ceremony by the USMC representative

Lots of vets from all eras, lots of good comment on the kilt, lots of "Thank you for your service"

    A good day.

Semper Fi. That's the one place on Earth that's guaranteed to make me cry...for mutiple reasons...

There's a large group of Navajo and Hopi veterans who ride their motors to the wall every year. Travel from the rez, cross country to the wall for solemn tribute, then ride home. Its both healing and addictive.

Didn't see any of the Navajo or Hopi that I know of. There was a Hawaiian "priest" (I'm not sure of the right word) doing a chant for peace (in Hawaiian) at the Nurses statue.

I have never seen the wall but hope to before I pull the plug. Good pictures. Thanks for sharing. Semper Fi.

I find the standing wall quite moving as well.

God bless you and your fellows, sir.

I would imagine that's quite an experience visiting there.

    Lest we forget.
