Name this tartan?
You won't find it in any registry. It isn't a clan, family, universal or district tartan. I am interested in seeing if Xmarkers, who are a pretty savvy bunch, can tell by looking at it who it was designed for. Any and all comments and feedback are welcome.

This looks like a development of the Green MacTavish/Thompson you posted last month. I guess that it's for your personal use?
From a design perspective I think you've over done it and should have left it just as it was . The white lines on the blue will break up the overall design making it appear busy and unbalanced but from a distance they will dominate, obscure the yellow, and give the impression of a white square with a finer white stripe in the centre. Don't do it .

Thank you for your comments.
The MacTavish Green is a different project and remains nearly as it was when I posted the pic earlier.
This one is for a specific group of people. My hope is that some of them who also happen to be Xmarkers will be able to recognize the symbolism in it. If not, I have not done a very good job in designing it.
It is a work in progress. I have simplified it a bit since I posted the pic above:

The simplified version is much better with the black running into the blue. I'm personally not a fan of the white triple.

I like it. It reminds me of scouting colors (Cub/Boy/Eagle).

The "white triple" is a key design element.
It reminds me of scouting colors (Cub/Boy/Eagle).
It does represent an organization, but not that particular one.

It may be just because I have military on the brain, but the green really reminds me of one of the colors on my brother's uniforms.... the red, white and blue might make sense with my hypothesis, but the yellow I'm not sure...

You're on the right track. The green is meant to represent "fatigue" uniforms. The yellow represents gold (on black). The red on white is symbolically connected to the green field on which it stands and is a separate symbol from the blue with the triple white stripes.
I thought that this tartan would be a very easy-to-recognize representation of the "group" it was designed for. I evidently missed the mark by a wide margin.
Substituting grey for the red-on-white stripe on the green field, it could represent a much larger "group".

I'm going to go with Navy Corpsman, with the red/white on green. The blue with white stripes would be enlisted rank, I'm not sure why the change to gray, unless you're going on a little cruise on a big gray boat?
Edit: I don't know about the gold/black, as a former soldier that looks Army to me, and you should widen the white guards on the red stripe just a bit. My first tour in Iraq, I worked in a medical command, we supported all U.S. Military branches, as well as allied troops. I worked with a few Corpsmen, that was before the Marines let them wear the Marpat uniform, having your doc stand out just ain't good tactical sense.
Edit the 2nd: I see from another thread that you were planning on designing a FMF medical tartan, very nice

Thank you! You give me a glimmer of hope!
Yes, not only FMF Hospital Corpsmen, but the whole US Navy Medical Corps and Medical Service Corps, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, Corpsmen, etc.. The gold on black is the gold braid on black sleeves and shoulder boards of Naval officers' uniforms; the "triple white" on blue from the collar flap and cuffs of the old(?) enlisted dress blues; the medical red-on-white cross on a "fatigue green" field.
I know that there are several other ex-Corpsmen here on Xmarks, and had hoped that one or more of them would be able to identify with the design. I'm not at all sure that I pulled it off.
Oh, well... back to the drawing board...
The officer and enlisted uniform symbols on underway-haze-grey of the other tartan make much more sense to me than the Erskine/US Navy tartan in current use, but I am not at all sure that my rendition is any more attractive. I'll continue to work on it.
And thank you for your service!
