tartan ribbon

Hello,

I've just returned from church & thought how nice it would be if we ladies could commission our Kirk tartan in a ribbon form. Then we could adorn our hats, add bows to children's hair, create a crossover bit under the collar of a blouse, put a band on the basket in which we collect communion cups, etc. Where do I start to learn if this is a practical idea?
