New England kilt makers?... wedding help.
Ok rabble, here's the situation.
A close friend of 20 years is getting married. He wants to do it kilted (PC and the whole works), but if he's gonna wear a kilt he wants his families tartan. This calls for a kilt maker, and while he's at it I'll be getting a proper wool kilt in Buchanan since I'm the best man.
We live in New Hampshire, this is his first kilt, he'll be wearing it on his wedding day so the preference is to go get measured and done up by a professional.
Anyone know a good kilt maker in New England?

Depends on your time schedule and the work load of the kilt maker. Bonnie Heather Greene is in New York and does beautiful work. I have a kilt made by her and she is an advertiser here, bottom right ad. USA Kilts is in PA. Those are two I can recommend.

You might contact Judith Sullivan in Keene, NH:

I have not met her or seen any of her kilts in person, but she's been very gracious in the e-mails we've exchanged and you can see from her blog posts that she is a pro.

I'm not in New England, but I'm not very far away, and I do custom kilts.

There are many - several on this website - most of my kin have purchased from the Kiltmaker's Apprentice in NY State. http://www.highlandkiltshop.com/

And of course there is Patti Smith also of this forum, "Patti." She is in Springfield, PA. Sounds like you have a few choices.

The BIG question is...when will you need it?
Because some of the kilt makers have been taking orders from all the Highland games going on the last 10 week-ends and I know a few are booked up to Feburary already...

Wow! Didn't realize we had so many options.
To answer the big question, the wedding isn't until July.
