    Smithsonian Magazine mentions the kilt and the impact of horses

    I think I remember someone on here mentioning this before but here is a short article as to why many people wear pants instead of a tunic or kilt. I found it interesting.

    I've found that some horses I've attempted to ride kilted turn out from under me as I mount them. May be the effect of the flying kilt as I attempt to mount...another reason perhaps. No need to ride sidesaddle when kilted.

    Interesting because in Caesar's time trousers (braccae is the Latin, I believe) were considered effeminate by the Romans.

    ...and for the Republic and Empire's entire lifespan, the Romans outsourced their cavalry arm to people's not opposed to wearing pants.
