Recently Steve, The Wizard of BC (bless his cotton socks) made up Kilts from a tartan he designed, registered and had woven. The Marines Dress Blue tartan.
After reading this I decided to find out what my Kilt would tell me:
The Green is for the Welsh Valleys in summer, The white stripes for the Snow in winter
Both Green and white make up the Background for the Welsh Flag and are the Tudor colours.
The prominent Red stripes are for the Prominent Red Dragon of Cadwaladr on the Flag
Parallel and on both sides of the whie stripes are Grey stripes which tell of the Welsh stone and slate used for housing.
Where the Grey stripes cross they become Black and denote the many places where Coal was mined.
To the Members of STA.
Before I bought my kilt I looked it up in Tartan Ferret and found it as Number 8281. When I look today I find atartan with a Blue background and a comment that it was a Fashion tartan thought to be from Gold Bros and sold as kilts for about 30 GBP. Thread count and colours estimated from a fuzzy photo.
Is it possible to correct the details to bring the entry up to date ??
