    First attempt

Here is my first attempt at putting on my new Christmas gifts. All critiques are welcomed. I wasn't real sure on where to thread the sporran buckles/chains.

For your first time you did splendidly! You must have been really good last year and had a great Christmas.

I really like your Jacobite shirt, though many folks on the forum do not prefer them, mostly because they are not "traditional". (That word has different meanings depending on to whom you talk.)

Everything else is just fine - ghillies, hose, flashes, sgian dubh, sporran, and belt. Some folks wear their kilt pin a bit more to the front, but that's up to you.

You might try a leather sporran strap instead of a chain. Some folks consider the chain for formal wear only, and some folks worry about the chain wearing abrasions into the kilt over a longer period of time. To me a leather strap is just more comfortable. I thread the strap through the kilt belt loops, but that is not necessary.

Finally, your pictures will come out "better" if you can persuade the photographer to kneel to take them. My wife usually just slaps me, but when she's willing it gives a better view of the kilt, particularly its length relative to your knees.

Happy New Year! And keep posting those pics. Oops! I forgot. Welcome to the forum.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
