Waistlines
What's your preference?
Traditional waist/above the hips, to under the ribs,
OR the newer 'hang on the hips' style?
I have both, frankly I'm not real comfy with either.
The hipster still feels too short and my trad kilt is not a great fit (second hand), I will be getting another kilt soon, but I'm just interested in what you all consider most comfortable.

I am more of a traditionalist. I like the kilt higher up. It seems to be more comfortable. My wife thinks that it's becouse my first kilt was higher and this has set in my mind that it's proper. I do have a sport kilt and part of the reason I don't wear it as often is becouse it's lower on the hips. It feels like it's falling down.
Cheers,

Seeing as how both my kilts are casual kilts, I prefer the "hang on the hips" feel. This is how I wear my jeans, and suit pants, so my kilt just feels more natural there.

I am a "at the belly button" wearer. I dont like it at my hips but I also dont want it right under my armpits. I guess the trad way is the way I like best.

I've worn my SportKilts for a long time and was (and am) completely comfortable in them.
HOWEVER... Now that I have my traditional Stillwater Kilt, I have become a "at the belly button" wearer / convert.
I don't know why, but it just feels more "secure" to me. I'll still wear my SportKilts, of course. But I think my Stillwater kilt (or kiltS, as I'm about to order another one) will get the nod most of the time from now on. I guess I like the traditional "look" as well. 8)

Whaaap!! Bull's-eye....The support for the stomach and back are great and something I miss when the kilt has to go back on the hanger. Esp. noticeable if I've been wearing it for many hours.

8) I wear my Utilikilts both ways, it depends more an what I'm wearing as a whole out fit and what the tempature is. If it's hot and I'm not wearing a shirt my utilikilt is on my hips.

Traditional is always my preference. At the navel that is. However, I plan on putting together and trying out a casual kilt design that will sit at the fashion waist. I'll see how I like it. I'm sure it will be nice to have a twill model that I can wear to work once it warms up.

Chris, what do you call the fashion waist? is that on the hips? I know it's fashionable, my kids always want to where trousers/jeans on the hips, which means the boys' underwear is showing above the jeans or the girls' belly is sticking out, both of which I hate.
When wearing shorts, I find the belt most comfortable just below the navel.
