In light of this coming summers trip to Scotland, I started looking into the Dinnie stones. Most of you are probably familiar with them, and with Donald Dinnie.
Here's a video of some of our friends, and throwing pro's giving the Dinnie Stones a go...
The smaller stone is 340 pounds, the larger is about 445. I have no illusions about lifting them both, but I'm pretty sure that I can pull the smaller one without straps and I *think* I can get the larger one, two-handed, though I might need straps. We'll be staying at the Potarch hotel, so there's no way I can't be there and give them a go.
BUT.... I just discovered another stone that's nearby...the Inver Stone.
From all accounts, the Inver Stone is very awkward, due to it's oval and irregular shape. There's nothing to grab on to. Now, there's no way I'm ever going to press the Inver Stone over my head but I'm starting to think that taking a shot at getting that bad boy to my shoulder might be a cool little challenge.
Like this...
I'm pretty sure I can lap it. I mean, I've lapped a couple of 225 pound Atlas stones. I've lapped and stood up with and gotten a 245 Atlas stone to my chest, and i have no freaking idea what I'm doing with this stuff, technique-wise. Even getting it chest-high would be cool.
ANY-way...stones of strength, utterly traditional in Scotland and that's why we have the Ardenwood stones at Ardenwood.
SO. Jessica. I'm kind of thinking that we need an Ardenwood Womanhood Stone.
