Tapered Kilt Belt?

I have a bit of a dilemma. I've been looking for a tapered kilt belt. I've found one source on line for a quality hand made tapered belt, but they have discontinued that particular style.

I would like to find a 2" tapered to 1-7/8" or 1-3/4" belt designed for a replaceable conventional buckle. I have a beautiful old bronze Maple Leaf buckle for a 1-7/8" width belt, which I would love to wear with my kilt.

Any assistance in my search would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps a local saddler may be able to assist?

I've thought of that, but the few saddlers in my area are very expensive, especially for custom work. I was hoping to find a readily produced belt at a mid-range price.

I had a very close friend, who was very talented at leather work. Unfortunately he has long since moved a long ways away, and we are no longer in contact.

Find a leather-work supply store locally(i.e. Tandy). I'm sure they could put you in touch with some local hobbyists.

Truitt, Thanks for the reply. Shortly after I posted, I found a custom belt maker's site after using some varied search terms. I'm waiting to hear back from him. He says he will custom make belts to your specs. I'm waiting to get a price, but all of his other work seems to be very reasonable, in the $50 to $60 range.

You might send a PM to our very own Nighthawk. He's a leather worker out of Colorado. He doesn't post around here much any more, but I've seen some pics of his work, and it looks very good.

I want to thank you for the referral to Travis "Nighthawk". He's going to craft the belt for me. The other maker couldn't quite get the drift of what I needed, or wasn't interested in making a one-off belt.
