    Color for a Wallace Jacket

Looking for an opinion on a color for a custom wallace jacket to play the pipes.

What would be more suitable for bagpipe competitions. A daywear tweed, or a charcoal.

I'm leaning towards the charcoal, but not sure. Would probably get more use out of an earthtone.

Currently black watch but will also get something like a Robertson at some point.

To my eyes, charcoal would go well with either the Black Watch or Robertson Hunting. Then again, so would a darker green/gray or blue/gray tweed. They're very easy tartans to work with. As for the appropriateness for competition, I'll leave that to the pipers on the forum.

Charcoal is a pretty neural color that will look good no matter what tartan you are wearing and you can wear it well during the day as well as less formal evening events with equal style.

You can do the same with other colors, too, so if you especially like one of them, go for it. But charcoal is a pretty safe option.

Why not go for something a bit out of the ordinary by today's standards but still very traditional: a rusty brown tweed?
