    Football (soccer) socks

Is it a OK to use football socks for some of the kilt outfits?

Will it work with casual and sporty?

I have seen folks use them before. The only qualifier that I would put on them is that to make sure they are not too thin, so as to be able to see flesh colour through them. For casual or sporty look fine

Is there a color guide in the forum for choosing hose?

Not as such, some people like to be matchy-matchy, some like to co-ordinate colour, and some just put on what comes out of the sock drawer first. There has been much discussion on the subject. I am in the camp of whatever I grab first, but then, I wear black leather brogues with brown leather kilt accoutrements. Basically gets down to, what suits you.

They still look like soccer sox to me - even if sold by a middleman kilt vendor. Usually cheaper. When I wore them usually pushed them down...okay for that look. Now, don't even bother. One problem is the colors at the sporting goods stores are often very bright colors meant for uniform wear. Always black though.

For casual or sporty, you can wear whatever you like. As to colour, I am in the complimentary colour camp. I like to have my hose compliment a colour in my kilt. But that is just my preference.

Personal choice, whatever you are happy with. I tried them early on but found them too thin for my liking, especially on the turndown. But each to his own.

I use them for hiking. Actually I use two pairs in two different colors with one pair being slightly longer/bigger than the other.

I put the long pair on first, then the second over the first pair, finishing with folding the top of the first pair over the second.

This gets rid of the problem of the soccer socks being to thin and showing the skin beneath.

I think Alan H or someone else who is a serious hiker/backpacker mentioned using two pairs of socks when on the trail as a method of reducing friction/chaffing on your feet. If nothing else the second pair of socks adds padding for your feet. I think it looks fine for casual hiking and it is certainly practical.

    Cheers

    Jamie

    WOW, Jamie!

Is that a trick of the camera? Or is Tristan really taller than you?

Have you been feeding your children again?
