As a gentleman of substance (GOS), I needed to get rid of my sporran chain but it is hard finding a strap for my size. So, I found some nice thin leather at Tandy Leather, bought a small buckle, a few snaps, and now I can get rid of the chain that holds my sporran to me. All in all not a bad days work for a strap at a total cost of about $18-$20 dollars.
