as the subject states, what do you wear with your utility kilt? specifically, I am curious as to how you wear shirts (tucked or no?), footwear (sneakers, boots, leggings?), and sporrans (yay or nay?). Pics appreciated. Thankee!

Johnston,
I wear my casual kilts ie. Sport Kilt, Utilikilt, the same way I would wear any pair of shorts or casual pants. It depends on my mood or situation at the time. Tank tops, sleeveless t's, Polo type shirts, no shirt, are all worn in the same manner. Sandles, trainers, work boots, my swat boots all can be and are a part of my casual attire. Sometimes socks but most often without.
Now my dress kilts are a whole different story but that isn't what you ask about.
By the way welcome to the forum andd the "Rabble".

I suppose it would depend on what I was doing.
I would also suppose it would depend on your definition of utility kilt. If I were wearing a Utilikilt brand kilt I would wear it the way it was designed to be worn. That is to say as long as there was nothing about the outfit that was remotely how a tartan kilt would be worn.
If you are using the term utility kilt to mean any non tartan kilt then I may answer "much the same as if I were wearing any other kilt".
for example I often man my booth at Highland Games in a solid-colored kilt dressed like this -

The only thing different in this outfit, from one with a Tartan, is that this kilt has 9 pockets so I do not need a sporran. The kilt also has some detail on the front apron so wearing it without a sporran does is not noticed.
A solid colored kilt can also be worn in a way exactly like a Tartan kilt.

It would depend on the event I was attending or what I was doing.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

I always tuck in my shirt. To me, kilts just look out of proportion with an untucked shirt. I usually wear mine with a flannel shirt in the cool months. I always wear boots with mine (often with military canvas leggings as shown below).

I'm not much of a t-shirt guy any more, but I've been known to do it (still tucked in, of course). And while I'm not a huge fan of the scrunched hose look (due to my skinny bird legs), I've been known to do that too. Occasionally I will accessorize with a large horse.

holy cow...or horse I should say. how many hands is that beast?? or are you really short? heh. I guess I classify non-tartan kilts as utility kilts, wherever they came from. I have a heavy tartan kilt but its too hot to wear during the late spring, summer and early fall. I am getting a couple more utility kilts, but other than sneakers I don't have a lot of footwear to choose from, and since I wear my kilts like my jeans-below the gut-I am wary of tucking t-shirts. I usually wear them with t-shirts, but I just happen to be OLD, and so I tuck in my t-shirts. If I'm backpacking or doing something strenuous, then the shirt may have cut-off sleeves.
Boots. I just think that substantial shoes/boots look better with any sort of kilt. I, personally, for me just don't like the sandals and kilt look. That's just me, eh? Y'all can do whatever you like.
Biggish belt. My two "utility" kilts are kilts I've made for myself and they don't have pockets, so instead of a sporran I use a black fanny pack with the load-carrying part up front.

Perhaps ths is posted in the wrong forum?
It should possibly be in the Contemporarily Made Kilts and How to Wear Them forum?

My UK is worn for house/yardwork and the unplanned extra trip to the hardware store. So it's boots, thick socks, long sleeved t shirts (always tucked), sawdust and frequently... mud.

This is how I generally wear my X Kilt

Somewhere on XMTS there is a photo thread where I tried to explore how you could dress up or down a modern kilt but I wasn't able to find it.
Cheers
