I was told "Dress to Impress" so....

My local Scottish heritage organization is in the process of producing a calendar featuring photographs of kilted gentlemen, to be used as a fundraising tool next year. The photos, as I understand it, will run the gamut from very formal to very casual.

I was asked to pose, with pipes, in a more formal outfit. This is the result:

I am NOT in the habit of wearing a bonnet indoors, but for the sake of art, I bowed to the will of the photographer.

The sharp eyed among you may notice that my waistcoat looks a trifle odd. I don't have a black, square cut waistcoat so I was trying to make do for the photo by tucking the points. One slipped a trifle!

Didn't even notice the wayward point--I was too busy gawking at your red Sheriffmuir. NICE!

You look rather smart indeed. Could you perhaps elaborate a wee bit more in regards to the details of your attire (i.e. - descriptions/where everything came from?)?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
    Well.... I'll try!

Starting at the top, the bonnet is a Robert Mackie in Lovat blue. Purchased via John at Keltoi.

The badge is sterling, from the STM Gift Shop.

The Sherriffmuir is from Highland Clans, now sadly defunct.

The waistcoat is from my black Argyll from USAK.

The watch is a sterling, double hunter cased skeleton by Jean Marcel. The fob is a piece of Fife jasper from Nat Forno at Scottish Gemstones.

The kilt is MacDonald of the Isles, Hunting (Ancient) in Lochcarron Strome from Scotweb.

The sporran is a Ferguson Britt in silver fox from the STM gift shop.

I don't recall where the hose were acquired. They are not difficult to source, but they are devilishly difficult to put on properly!

Shoes are by Thistle Shoes, purchased via Keltoi. The cut steel buckles were found on eBay.

You can't see the sgian, but it is bespoke from Rab Gordon (Rainnea).

The important part (the pipes!) are McCallum AB4Ds.

As an aside, while there is no violet/purple in this photo, I think I have the rest of the spectrum well represented!

    I love it!
    You look marvellous.
Especially because the traditional highland dress is very bright and colourful, not the tone-on-tone we tend to today.
Very beautiful jacket and hose...i will buy a pair of these myself.
    Best thing: the pipes :-)
If my efforts on my chanter will increase a McCallum AB4 (with thistle engraving) will be my dream-pipes.
Congratulations for this splendid look! (Any yellow on you?)

A good question is, could you compete against Darth Vader playing his bagpipes?
