I always wanted to do this and eventually have got to do it 60yrs on ... in a cilt as well which is an extra bonus in itself..
That is ... go to Greenwich (London).

And the main reason for going was to do this .. the Meridian line of GMT

It was a great day ... had a cold beer sat outside a lovely pub right by the Cutty Sark

Then took off to The Imperial War Musuem and walked passed this

Then on to St Pauls

We walked our feet off but it was a grand day ..

Great pictures Derek, I think that the view from the observatory looking over London is one of the best in the Capital. Did you go in the observatory as their is a fascinating watch and clock museum including John Harrison's masterpieces which enabled sailors to, for the first time, be able to plot their longitude .

Unfortunately, the only one that I can see is the Cutty Sark, the others are just small squares with an X Inside.

I believe I stood in exactly the same spot 25 July 2007. (I have a photo of me straddling the line with the GMT digital sign behind me). I later moved over to the rail on the parapet (which you can see in the lower left of Derek's pic) to watch other tourists with the same excitement I had in straddling the hemispheres (as they are generally accepted to be demarcated on maps/globes).

I was with a troop of Scouts visiting London prior to the 21st World Scout Jamboree. We visited Windsor and Eton on the day of our arrival, then a few places in Central London over the course of the next two days (a whirlwind tour) before going to Hylands House in Chelmsford.
