    a real biker?

With my job I'm allowed to drive around Charlotte aimlessly for hours at a time. So while out on one of my morning travels last week I spoted the small group of bikers, I recognized their colors as a chapter of the HLF and desided to follow for a while to see if I knew one of them. About that time I noticed the coolest things I have ever seen on a bike. This dude was about 6', 300lbs, and was sporting a leather vest (no shirt) a red and black tartan kilt with black leather chaps underneath. I had to ride up beside a give this fellow a big thumbs up in which replied by motioning towards his kilt, grinned real big, and offered up a friendly fist in the air.
Anyway I just wanted to share for all you bikers out there who says you can't wear a kilt on a bike.

Also as a side note for all you bikers out there looking for some good guys to go out riding with, you need to check and see if there is a HLF chapter near by. I've meet a bunch of them and they have always been great to me.real good group of fellows and some ladies.

I know you can wear a kilt on a bike 'cause I've done it, it just isn't real smart. I suppose I could wear leathers under the kilt but that's kind of redundant, chaps however don't give you protection where you need it in a crash and chaps under a kilt are just plain silly. I do sometimes wear a Utilikilt under my riding suit though, so when I get where I'm going I peel off the protective gear and have my kilt on. For the most part though my Harley and my kilts live on parallel but separate planes of existence.

What do the initials HLF stand for? I thought I knew most of the major club names in the US but I have to admit I don't recognise this one.

I didn't say it was smart. I just thought it was kinda cool and mostly funny. I agree with you on the whole silly part. It just made me laugh to see it and thought I would share.
Also, HLF: "His Laboring Few". They're a Christian bike club. Around here they are mostly made up of a bunch of reformed "Outlaws", "Southern Gentlemen", "Bandito's", and various other biker gangs. Not all of them just a bunch. The two local chapters I'm aware of are Lexington and Statesville.

I agree 100% on the cool factor. I've had people ask me if I wear my kilt while riding. I won't wear shorts on a bike, so I certainly won't wear the kilt. Too dangerous in the event of a spill.
