New kilt...all I need is hose
Finally got my USAK semi-traditional in MacDonald tartan. First kilt, either a bit large ...or I lost some weight . Maybe an inch too long. Oh, well, that's why I went with the semi-trad - it's not a massive investment, and you tweak the measurements to get them right.
There's just one problem...I'm still waiting on kilt hose. Being a Gentleman With Calves of Great Substance, nothing short of the House of Cheviot Harris line will fit. Which I ordered two months ago.
I'll post pics when I get everything together.

Mike, I would definitely check with Ronan at the STM to see if your order has been mislaid. I have ordered several things from them and it has never taken 2 months to get what I ordered. Of course, if the hose you ordered have to be custom made that could explain a delay.

Yes, good idea, Phil. Two months seems to be a long time. There may be a reason for it but in your place I would check for my own peace of mind. The STM are good folk. If there is a problem they will sort it out.

Hey cousin, been my experience that the first kilt from a new vendor is always a bit off size unless the kiltmaker measured you. Sort of like artillery fire. You can adjust from here and have a perfect fit. Don't forget - they're cheap - but your local sporting goods store has soccer sox in various colors...

Actually, I went up to USAK to be measured. Figured that would be the best way to have a fighting chance at decent fit.

I ordered the same hose from STM several months ago. It took quite a while it get them. I E-mailed them and got a response back. Don't remember the exact words but I have the impression that they either don't stock them and order them from Scotland as needed, or they keep very limited quantities and sell out. Either way I did eventually get them.

Mike,
If you want to pop back in to have the kilt adjusted, we'll be happy to double check the measurements and help get the fit to where it needs to be.

Or you could take up knitting. Knitting up a pair of simple kilt hose is a rewarding experience.
1) You will have new hose in exactly your size
2) You will have learned a new skill
3) You have something to do with your hands while watching TV or visiting.
4) You will help stave off dementia because the thought process along with the hand work is good for you.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

I'm already insane. It's a professional requirement for anyone testing new aircraft.
