Tartan Registration Questions
I was not sure what section to put this in, so I figured that I would put it in here. Please feel free to move this wherever it should properly be.
I would like to find out how to register a Tartan. I worked one up off of a web site that made it pretty easy to do, and joined the Tartan Registry site in the UK. I am running into several things that I just have no idea on how to answer, such as thread count and what not. I'm also concerned that they might think that the pattern I have chosen is "too generic".
I am hoping that someone can give me a little one-on-one help with this.
Thank you.

I just went through the process myself....

Start by going to the Scottish Register of Tartans web site:
http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/
You will need to create an account there. Then follow the "Register a Tartan" link at the top of the page. There's a document there that offers a lot of guidance as to what information is required in your tartan registration application.
My application took about three weeks to come back. If you have your tartan woven, send them a sample.

If you would like to give me a Skype call tomorrow we can talk about Tartan design and registering. I have two Tartans registered, woven and kilts made from them so sort of have the process down.
