Greetings, I am a descendent of John "Old Silverfist" Lindsay, a revolutionary war soldier and am interested in tracing the geneaology of this branch of my family back to Scotland. If anyone has any information or advice about the best way to go about this, it would be much appreciated. Cheers, Robert Stephens IV
Wow - that's a lot of ground to cover. My suggestion would be sign up with Ancestry.com and start searching their many resources. If you have a date and place of birth (or even close) you should be able to find someone else who is also researching him. Then once you get back to the U.K. use the genuki.com website to try and locate original documents back there. Good luck. Edit I just did a quick search on Rootsweb and there are a bunch of people researching this man. I assume it's the same Col. (or possibly) Major John Lindsay from Halifax, Virginia. I even found a photo of his gravestone which you may have also found. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-...ubmit.x=Search http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...&GRid=37155885
