Portland/Vancouver area kilt night, December 17th!

We'll deviate from the Last Tuesday plan this month due to xmas and New Year's eve. Here's the scoop:

Tuesday, December 17th.
The Highland Stillhouse in Oregon City
7:30pm

With all the holiday stuff happening I don't expect a huge turnout, but if you're not busy it'd be fabulous to see you next week.

I've had a number of people suggest that the venue alternate between the Stillhouse and a PDX location, which to be fair is understandable. Oregon City isn't exactly convenient. Biddy's is topping the list so far but I'll continue my...ahem...research. For January let's plan to meet in Portland.

Well Oregon and Southern Wa., XMTS Followers....we are less than a week from the next proposed gathering at The Highland Stillhouse....Proposed time being 7:30p for some of the Best Fish N Chips and fellowship ( and a few drams for those that partake).
Lets hear from those local so we can get an idea who would like to attend this small dinner meeting....

You'll have to count my wife and I as out this time, Hawk. We have a granddaughter performing at her high school that same night. Hope all who attend have as good a time as we did last time.

I very much wish I could attend this but sadly I can't (family obligations and travel, it is that time of year after all). The Highland Stillhouse in Oregon City is an excellent venue for a kilt night, if I might offer an alternate location for future consideration. The Rose & Thistle Pub is a very nice Scottish themed pub with a good menu, selection and has been a friendly ocassional venue of other Portland/Vancouver Kilt Nights in the past. With any luck I'll get to hoist a pint with you all at another time.

Carl and Rick, we will miss you next week. I'm hoping Victoria and her husband, and our crew from the Salem area will be attending this time. I have an Aussie from work that lives close to the Stillhouse that wants to come on the 17th, so he'll probably be there also....

I've had a few emails from people saying they can't make it due to holiday stuff as well, so I think for December we'll call it a bust and plan for kicking things off properly on the last Tuesday in January.

Carl, yeah, a PDX location is the plan for January. I've had quite a few comments from non-xmarks folks about alternating between the Stillhouse and somewhere in Portland. I'd completely forgotten about the Rose & Thistle. IIRC it's a pretty good venue for a gent to show off his kilt as well.

For those that have gone to the Rose & Thistle, is there adequate free parking, how's the food,etc?

For those that would like to still meet up at the Highland Stillhouse on the 17th ( next Tuesday) for December, speak up, as I've got two other couples that have answered affirmative.....

Hawk, the food at Rose and Thistle is great. There's also a bar where one can post up, which is a big plus. It's on NE Broadway so there isn't a parking lot but there's still plenty of street parking in the immediate vicinity. The drive out to OC has been a bigger deterrent than I expected, so alternating locations seems to be the best solution.
