    Puttin on the Plaid

Ok, so its heavily plagiarised, but inspired by a comment I made in another post, the alternative to Fred Astaire's Puttin on the Ritz'...

Have you seen the well-to-do, up and down Sauchiehall Street
On that famous thoroughfare, with their noses in the air
Garry hats and Arrowed collars, white spats and lots of dollars
Spending every dime, for a wonderful time
If you're blue and you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where you’ll be glad,
    Puttin' on the Plaid.
Different types who wear a daycoat, pants with stripes
And cut away coat, different Plaids,
    Puttin' on the Plaid.
Dressed up like a million dollar trouper
Trying hard to look like Mr Newsome (pretty cool son)
Come let's mix where Rockefellers walk with sticks
    Or like their Dads
    Puttin' on the Plaids

Tips his hat just like an english chappie
To a lady with a wealthy pappy (very snappy)
You'll declare it's simply topping to be there
    And you’ll be so glad,
    Puttin' on the Plaid!

I just had a mental image of Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle dancing in kilts.....
