Tennis or canvas shoes with kilt?

Anyone ever wear any kind of tennis/soccer or canvas shoes with their kilt? If so any pics or suggestions on what socks to wear?

I don't have a photo, but the one time participated in "clan challenge" sporting events (where duffers who have never tossed a caber or sheef give it a whirl), I wore heavy canvas running shoes. But I still wore traditional knee-length hose because I don't care for the short sock/scrunched down look.

But it's really a matter of personal style and taste. In general, I would not wear athletic shoes with a kilt.

Thumbs up The Official Welsh Kilt Footwear...

Oh, yeah! Derek is ALWAYS in canvas Chuck Taylor's. I think that's the official Welsh footwear with a kilt, actually.

Myself, I've worn flip-flops, trail shoes (with non-white casual socks) and a wet-dry walking shoe (LL Bean Vacationland Walking shoes) with no socks. I rather prefer no socks. It's just a virtual necessity in the South Georgia humidity if you want to wear your kilt here more than three months/year and still be moderately comfourtable... and I do. Pictures of such are another matter unfortunately... I got nuthin'. Sorry.

I've been thinking about getting some Adidas Samba Classics to wear with my casual kilts... or rather casually with my kilts? I think that'd be pretty cool even with some scrunched down white athletic socks. If they still make the assortment of colours like they used to you could even be colour coordinated with your kilt, eh wot!

    Cheers,
    Wesley

PS- JIM! Do we have an upcoming Conyers Burn's Supper yet? Inquiring minds want to know... :-)

Once when I walked a 5K kilted I wore canvas sneakers. I didn't care for the look, but it was a matter of practicality.

When kilted, I wear leather shoes unless I'm running. In that case, I wear running shoes with kilt hose. Sorry I don't have any pictures.

The shoes should be in a contrasting tartan so that they are not too 'matchy-matchy', LOL! (My own canvas shoes are bright red, though)

I'm wearing black cross-trainers right now with my kilt and a hooded sweatshirt. Wore the shoes and kilt for a walk with the hound yesterday as well. Being all black, they stand out less that other athletic shoes might.
