Almost three years ago my wife and I spent two nights in Newtonmore Scotland and on one night we had a "Taste of Scotland" . Not a good idea to wear my Campbell kilt any where near there! I had to explain to the bartender that my ancestors were Maxwells and a lot more "bad a$$ "than the Campbells. You and your girl will have a ball. Best regards Mattie

Wonderful news, Tom! I'm sorry to hear that you will not be able to participate in the annual Clan Macpherson Gathering and Rally in Newtonmore and Kingussie. I know you and your bonnie lass would've had a lovely time and would have been warmly welcomed by our fellow cousins. I'm quite sure you will still have a wonderful time in Scotland, just make sure that you DO get to the Clan Macpherson Museum, you will not regret it. Also, be sure to pop over (across the street from the museum) to The Glen Hotel for a nice lunch (excellent fish n' chips) and a pint or two. Fantastic wee place. If you need any assistance/recommendations in regards to accommodations in the Newtonmore and Kingussie area (Badenoch), just let me know.

Really? I'm quite surpised that happened to you whilst in Newtonmore. Which pub were you at? The Glen Hotel directly across the street from the Clan Macpherson House and Museum? The Newtonmore Grill? There's not too many pubs to choose from in Newtonmore, or in nearby Kingussie for that matter.

Tom: You should be excited. What a great itinerary! I hope you have a wonderful trip. I'll bet if you let the clan know your plans, they'll postpone the gathering for you.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Sounds like a good itinerary.
Glasgow is well worth seeing, with its many historic buildings, fine architecture, beautiful parks and vibrant waterfront and there's great shopping opportunities for your wife. If you have a free day take a sail "doon the watter" on one of the riverboats.
The Commonwealth Games finish on 3rd August after which Glasgow should be a wee bit less hectic.

By any chance will you be in Glasgow Aug 15th-18th? If so, I believe those are the dates for the World Pipe Band Competition in Glasgow. It's quite something to experience.

Ah I'm jealous... sounds like you two will have a great time. My girlfriend and I are planning our first trip to Scotland once we complete our BA's (early-mid 2016 if all goes well). Be sure to take plently of pictures!
